According to the new study, swapping a daily glass of wine for a slightly weaker alternative could be enough to lower the risk of some cancers. They study suggest that people who drink wine with an alcohol content of 10% rather than 14% might benefit, says the World Cancer Research Fund.
The calculation was based on figures in a 2007 report which looked at the evidence for a link between alcohol consumption and cancer. Report recommended that men should have no more than two drinks a day and women no more than one. Thus, figures used to reach that conclusion were detailed enough to reveal the likely extra risk posed by each extra 10 grams of alcohol – just over one unit – regularly consumed.
From this, scientists calculated that, in theory, a person drinking one large 250ml glass of wine a night would have a 7% lower risk of bowel cancer if they normally drank 10% strength wine rather than 14%. This is only a modest decrease of risk for an individual, and there is no clear evidence about how long someone would need to substitute weaker wine for their usual tipple in order to reap this benefit.
However, the charity said that for every 100 people who did it, one case of bowel cancer would be avoided. While the detailed studies only applied to bowel cancer, it said that there was no reason to believe that the risk of other cancers linked to alcohol, such as throat, oesophageal and breast, would not respond in a similar way.

One of my friends in New York is complaining about the minus zero degrees they have. The snow is still thick now even if there is a bit of sun shine. She is tired changing the furnace filter given that she is really busy with her hospital work. She even forgets to eat every time she arrives home because she would head out directly to her bedroom.
Poor girl! Lucky for me, I’m just experiencing rains and gloomy day. And the temperature is roughly around 82.4 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. I think that is hot enough to dry crisp my newly wash clothes. And that temperature is just what we have almost all days of the year.

One of the biggest problems I have on my face, aside from the big accident scar in my forehead, is the presence of blackheads on nose and surrounding area of the nose. I envy those people with clear skin. In some way I know that it is a combination of surging hormones and bacteria.
I tried using nose strips and it’s quite effective. It pulls off some of it, but it goes back again after a few days. Doing it over and over again is really a hassle. I have no choice, but to do it anyway. Another problem is that pulling them off, leaves my pores open. If I can find black heads treatments that don’t need to pull them off, then I will pick that instead of nose strips. But, this is difficult as most of these products contain ingredients that dry the skin.

According to technology analysts at Deloitte, there will be “Tens of millions” of tablet computers will be sold in 2010. The keyboard and mouse-free devices are likely to be a top trend among consumers, they anticipate. This prediction fuels rumors that Apple is set to unveil a tablet-style computer at a press event it is hosting on 27 January. However, the impact of tablet sales on the burgeoning e-reader market could be substantial, the report said.
“For every million net tablets sold there will be a corresponding impact on e-readers,” said Jolyon Barker from Deloitte’s Technology, Media and Telecommunications department. The company’s report, which forecasts the tech trends for 2010, describes tablets as “the Goldilocks of devices (not too big, not too small)”.
The graphics, software, and user interface were underwhelming, not well connected to cellular or WiFi networks, and, most important, they have largely served as work-oriented data-entry devices. By contrast, an easy-to-use, consumer-focused device used primarily for media and web browsing is much more likely to be widely accepted by the market. Read more… »

As much as I want to use diet pills, I just can’t jump into purchasing one. I am well-aware that there is a need to read diet pill reviews first before even committing to it. There is a risk that I will put myself in great danger as there are products that are ineffective it also contains harmful ingredients. With that fact, I will not only waste my body, but I will also waste my health.
For now, I’m off to go and continue reading some articles and reviews. Then, after I will try to download new games as I am increasingly becoming bored every day. For sure, new games will light up my day.

I could not imagine a person announcing to his or her friend an embarrassing condition. True friends tell each other secrets. But, sometimes there are secrets worth hiding than sharing. Hehehe! For example, even if there is relief for hemorrhoids purchasing it in the drug store is really awkward. Why? That person’s friend might see him or her and might spread some words about it. That will push the person involve to break his or her silence.
Same goes with relationships. My closest friend has a two year suitor. Although it’s a long distance courtship, the guy puts some effort to please her. He intentionally went here despite the harsh reality of expensive fare, not just to meet her parents, but to spend the New Year. He opts to be with her rather than his family. The only problem is that she is not too proud of him because of his looks. She keeps him in the vicinity of her house where there are family members around. And, she did not bother to tour him in the city. Hehehe!
I am the only person who knows this secret aside from her family. And I am the only person who knows that her reason for not accepting him is his looks even if he doesn’t look bad after all. Too bad!
