Marshmallow-Mint Tea for Sore Throats

A sore throat is often the first symptom of a cold or flu. Curtail the symptoms with this herbal recipe.

The puffy marshmallows sold in supermarkets today are descendants of a centuries-old French confection made from boiled, sweetened marshmallow roots (but the confections no longer contain the herb). A tea made from marshmallow root, ginger, and peppermint tastes good and helps to ease sore throat pain. Marshmallow contains water-soluble fiber that soothes irritation, and ginger and peppermint calm inflammation.

Make a tea by simmering 1 tablespoon each of dried marshmallow root and fresh chopped gingerroot in 3 cups of water in a covered pot for 5 minutes. Remove from heat, add 2 teaspoons of dried peppermint, cover, and steep for an additional 10 minutes. Strain, sweeten, and give up to 3 cups daily.

Holiday mantel decorations

Over the past few years I’ve gotten pretty lazy and just hung up the stockings on the mantel. I used to do these really intricate mantel landscapes for the holidays and I always got lots of compliments about them from our family and friends. But then I became a busy mom and didn’t quite have the time or energy to continue going through all of that trouble.

Well, this year my daughter is in kindergarten so I have a little more free time during the days to do little things like that. I also found this really cool idea with our Rural Internet about how to get the most out of your mantel space for decorating purposes.

I actually only spent about an hour putting up my holiday mantel decorations but it looks like I took a whole bunch more time. I guess that the key was just to plan ahead of time. My 5-year-old daughter thought that it looked pretty neat. I just have to keep reminding her not to pull any of the decorations off the mantel.

excited to go back mountain climbing

Hubby is quite excited to go back mountain climbing and hiking. I made a mistake of prohibiting him from doing such before. I’m a little paranoid and too jealous at that time. In order to please me, he decided to quit where he is supposed to be a given a full-pledge recognition from his teammates.

Well, I’m already confident and have gained trust in him. I’m now sure he won’t screw our relationship that he takes care for a long time. To give him some guarantee, I will give him a spyderco Persian knife. For sure this knife will be a great tool for him in the wilderness.

Actually, he already tossed all his climbing accessories to satisfy me. Giving him a quality and safety knife will make his cutting need hassle free especially in a place where there are no other tools available.

Failure to act Kills the Mind

A very close friend phoned me this weekend and asked a specific question about earning a few extra dollars each month online. For the benefit of keeping her name and details secret I will call her Inya in this article. You see Inya suffers from a severe form of inaction syndrome; she is full of great ideas that never materialize into cash and she is having a problem finding the link that will achieve this.

Somebody once said that knowledge is power, yet we constantly find from readers of our website that they have knowledge to burn and still do not have power. Just look at the academics in Universities all around the world they have so much knowledge that they should control the wealth of the world. In truth they work for peanuts and very few of them ever achieve the power of independence. So knowledge certainly isn’t power, therefore we should change that “wise” statement to: “Power is the ability to use knowledge to your own benefit.”

That paragraph was inserted because Inya is a typical academic; strong on talk and plans but a little weaker on action. In the period of a twenty minute conversation she expounded a whole list of plans and ideas to make the extra few hundred dollars each month she is seeking. Any one of her many ideas was a potential money maker but she had taken action on none of them. At one time she said: “I’m lost as to what do next.” Read more… »

exhausted after finishing tons of assignments

I’m a little exhausted now after finishing tons of assignments. But, I still have little energy to search the web for articles about gold. I’m beginning to get addicted about it. Well, I guess this feeling won’t go away until I will be able to buy gold coins.

Like any other people, I’m also fascinated with the beauty and magic of gold, and with its power to change men’s lives. Today, the beauty of a gold bar lies in its proven ability to diversify investments, protect wealth and preserve one’s purchasing power. It is considered a unique form of investments.

As an investment product, gold is available in coin or ingot form. Ingots are generally gold ingots of pure bullion cast in a convenient size and shape. Coins have a currency value or they are actually defined as ingots.

The Story of Silent Night

On Christmas Eve in 1818, Franz Gruber, church organist in the little town of Oberndorf, Bavaria, made an alarming discovery. The organ would not play.

For several day previous to Christmas Eve, Oberndorf had been snowbound. Gruber, knowing there was no one in Oberndoft capable of repairing the organ, was aftaid there would be no music for this Christmas.

He could hardly imagine Christmas without music, Quickly he went to the vicar, Joseph Mohr, and told him his story. He asked Mohr to write a new Christmas song which could be easily sung without the use of the organ.

Later as Mohr sat reading Christmas stories form his Bible…”Unto you isborn this day in the city of David a Saviour,…” the words welled up in his soul like a heavenly anthem. Long into the night he sat meditating on them. As the full meaning gripped his soul, he wrote a poem about the wondrous story.

Early the next day, Gruber took the newly written words and compiosed a melody. Noe the people were gathering at the church. There was one man who could pick out tunes on a guitar. He was asked to accompany the new carol.
