adding vintage feel to the house

Six relatives of the house owner arrive Saturday evening to attend a wedding in the nearby town. After, they decided to spend the night of Sunday here in the house and fly back to their place five in the morning this day. However, due to unfortunately turns of time, they arrive late for their flight. So, they have to spend the rest of the day here.

The house isn’t too big to accommodate them all comfortably. Some of them have to sleep in the living room. The entire place is actually too crowded and cluttered with all their boxes of presents in the floor. I can’t get down the living room to watch my favorite television programs. Good thing I have my internet connection where I can still enjoy looking around.

One of the things that I discovered this day is the vintage push button switch. A push button is particularly used to either close or open an electrical circuit depending on the application. This is the perfect switch for this almost 50 year old house. If I am the owner, then I would definitely choose something like this to add a vintage feel. For sure it would be a good idea.

gardening hints and tips

Neutralize garden lime. Rinse your hands liberally with vinegar after working with garden lime to avoid rough and flaking skin. Power up the propane, soak new propane lantern wicks in vinegar for several hours and let it dry before using. Will burn longer and brighter.

Increase soil acidity. In hard water areas, add a cup of vinegar to a gallon of tap water for watering acid loving plants like rhododendrons, gardenias, or azaleas. The vinegar will release iron in the soil for the plants to use. Deter ants. Spray vinegar around door and window frames, under appliances, and along other known ant trails.

Kill weeds. Spray full strength vinegar on tops of weeds. Reapply on any new growth until the plants have starved. Kill grass on walks and driveways.  Pour full strength vinegar on unwanted grass

Without a doubt, we’ve all experienced that nasty sensation of laying down to sleep, after professing we would doze off even before our head got to touch the pillow, and not being able to keep the eyes shut. As the body breaks down from the stress and exhaustion throughout the day, the mind seems to race a hundred miles an hour, obstinately refusing to shut down. This can be easily overcome if we just pay attention to several details around our bedroom.

We can easily trick our body and mind into falling asleep and, what’s more important, catching some very resting zzz’s. Nevertheless, chances of that happening are slim to none if there is at least one factor that’s working against us when it comes to turning off the lights, and this is why we should know where to look. For instance, a lumpy mattress, the lack of air, noisy neighbors or too much light in the room can easily prevent us from falling asleep, even if we have grown so accustomed with them we hardly ever notice them.

Greens are also ideal to encourage sleep because they boost the sense of wellbeing and relaxation. Plants improve air quality, and having a little bit of nature in your bedroom can improve relaxation. But they can also grow mold. If you’re highly allergic to mold spores, place your plant near a sunny window, keep the soil a little dry, and be diligent about removing dead leaves. Floras that top the clean-air list include English ivy, peace lilies, and bamboo palm.

Ever since we arrived here, for almost a month already, I’ve been so unproductive. It seems like finishing a task is like a dream. It’s uncommon for me to act this way as I used to be hard-working and diligent in my work. But, that seem to be a history now.

I’m looking for the right answer as to the reason I find myself this way. I’m not so sure if this is “culture shock” or any other reason. The only clue I can get is the back pains, shoulder pains and headache. Well, for the longest time, I realize my impoverished ways has something to do with my working space. Here, I don’t have the right office furniture of my own that’s why I end up sitting in the couch or at the dining table, or at the bed when I’m using my computer.

Sitting in an awkward position can sap energy, increase back pains, shoulder pains and headache. Bingo! I got the right answer. Now, I have to deal with this problem. I really have to find ways to invest in good office furniture.

benefits of blinds

Like my mother, many other people are unaware of the many advantages of using window blinds. I tried to tell her that helps in a variety of ways to save some bucks every month. It is through controlling the light that enters a room.

We all know that too much sun has undesirable effects. It doesn’t only raise the temperature in the room, it can also cause a lot of damage to whatever it hits. It causes furniture to fade and damage over long exposure. However, the risks can be lessened with the help of window blinds as it can reduce, divert or totally blocked the sunlight coming through the window. It means homeowners can save from the cost of having damaged furniture fixed or replacing it. Other than that it also helps in reducing air conditioning use as it lessens the amount of heat into the room.

Ow well, I hope mom will understand the many benefits so that we can make good use of my blinds when I go home. I don’t want my hard-earned money to go to waste because of her dislikes.

need a new mailbox

Yikes I never thought I would be considering purchasing ecco  mailbox these days. Actually, I am mostly relying on emails and I am not waiting for any traditional mails for me. My mailbox is just for bills, credit card statements, invitations, promotions and so on. That means I can’t still do away with it. I still need it for those items.

However, my mailbox is already dilapidated due to old age. So, I really need a new one. My choices are one of those pretty, classy ecco mailboxes. There are so many choices to choose from; there are stainless steel, brass, bronze and so much more. I don’t even know what material I would choose.

The only thing I am sure is that I want ecco wall mount mailbox. I don’t have enough space for big mailbox. Like I said my intention is only to change the old one, but not to make a huge upgrade. Anyway, I hope I will be able to make a good choice on this one.
